On October 5th, 2018, The American Diabetes Association (ADA) Tour de Cure Executive Committee hosted the Executive Ride and Breakfast to introduce the ADA’s Tour de Cure at Lake Nona to business leaders in the community.
The annual Tour de Cure, which welcomes over 2,000 attendees, raised over $925,000 earlier in 2018. As a precursor to the 2019 event, the Executive Ride and Breakfast, held at Drive Shack (https://www.driveshack.com), 7285 Corner Drive Orlando, FL 32827, allowed business leaders to learn more about the ADA and the growing health and financial impacts of diabetes. With over 30 million Americans living with diabetes, and healthcare costs exceeding $245 billion along with $58 billion lost in annual productivity, there is no better time to get involved with this incredible organization.

The Ride
It was a great day to enjoy a casual bicycle ride. The benefit of a casual ride is the ability to chat while riding together. Just as in previous years … one of the highlights of the day was breakfast after the ride. The volunteers and staff handed out cool, damp Tour de Cure towels for riders to freshen up. Then riders and invitees gathered together for a delicious breakfast of eggs, bacon, potatoes, fruit, toast, coffee, and juice. Breakfast was not the only star of the day, though. The Tour de Cure staff hosted a line-up of engaging community leaders to share their stories.
Presenters
One speaker after the other provided their personal experience about why they support the American Diabetes Association in Orlando. Each speaker commanded attention in their commentary and was very personable with lighthearted comedic statements sprinkled throughout the conversation with the audience.
After the keynote speakers finished their personal commentary, and the meeting was over, all in attendance were invigorated to go out and do all they can to assist in this cause.
