The day started out comfortable. This year’s start time made for a relaxed beginning to the ride. Of course there were so many at the start that the team took off very slow. Once out of the first stage of the starting line, things opened up. The 10 and 25 milers were together, so we were able to chat a bit before the 25 milers split off into their course.

I was so grateful to be able to ride this year in person. Seeing our team together was uplifting. This ride was the most relaxed ride and fun in a different way. In the past I have ridden fast and long distances. This year I was able to actually talk to my team mates during the ride and do a little catching up.

The event was well put together. The ADA team had done a fantastic job marking the course. I did not even worry about making a wrong turn. I just followed my color-coded 10 mile markers. The nice thing about our pace was that I could also enjoy the scenery. While the 25 mile group had a quite a bit of wind, our group was not impacted at all by the wind.

I enjoyed the lunch put on by Chroma. The meatballs were my favorite! They had salad, chicken, and pasta. Everything was delicious.

With the past few years having been such a challenge, it was satisfying to complete this year’s event in person. Thank you to everyone that supports us in this worthy cause. You did an amazing job helping me raise over $1,000 for the American Diabetes Association (ADA) this year. My Team’s success did not falter this year.

I am so honored to ride on behalf of:

  • Bertha Styles (Charmaine’s Nana), Keith Buchanan (Charmaine’s Brother), Cathy’s Dad, Charles Lancaster, Sam B., Taylor, Mr. A, Xavier Gomez
  • In loving memory of Charles’ parents

Many thanks for your support. It has made fundraising, training, and riding easier. In addition, you earned some brownie points with me!
