What a Ride! Everyone from TeamOne made it, with only two incidents!!!

Thank you all for making the 2015 Tour de Cure Lake Nona great! You did an amazing job helping me raise over $1,000 for the American Diabetes Association (ADA).

150315-TdC-112You were part of Orlando’s TeamOne’s efforts which raised over $18,237. TeamOne 2015 consisted of 19 individual riders. Considering these economic times for some we are humbled and grateful for the donations we have received so far because every penny counts. I have an ADA Tour de Cure shirt sticker for display in my office in honor of every donor.

On Sunday March 15th, I participated in the American Diabetes Association Lake Nona Tour de Cure 50 mile ride. This was my first ride for the ADA. I just started biking last fall, and this event was my goal, and the longest ride I have done so far!

The day: The temperature started in the high 60’s. It was advertised to be a beautifully hot day without the expectation of the notorious Florida wind. My ride started at 7:30 am, along with the 63 and 102 mile rides. The 10 and 25 mile riders followed at 8:30 am.

We started on time with TeamOne. The breeze and the sun provided the perfect temperature for a great day for riding.  The gust of wind on the final 8 miles of the course was not nearly as blustery as the normal afternoon Florida wind.

This ride was great for so many reasons:  Your generosity in donations; my first 50 mile ride; riding with a team that looked and did awesome.

This is the course charted by one of our team members as we rode in a pack the entire route.

Again thanks for your support. It has made the ride easier. In addition, you earned some brownie points with me!
