Today December 6, 2015, we did a wonderful training ride! It was in support of the Red Rider team for the upcoming ADA Tour de Cure in Orlando.

TeamOne participated to show support for the Red Riders. We took a beautiful ride down the West Orange Trail. There were a few hills on this route. Now you should know that some of the riders don’t do hills as a regular ride. However, this rider found that the training at home in the wind was sufficient to provide the ability to ride hills! It was excellent practice in shifting (still working on getting the hang of that skill but it is coming along nicely).

The trail was a paved, wide, and a pleasure to ride on. There were bikers, pedestrians, skateboarders, and runners. No matter. Everyone was courteous and moved to the side when riders were coming up. There were few stop signs to worry about. There were a few roadways to cross, but they didn’t impede progress. The trees lining the trail provided wonderful shade in a pleasant 80-degree day. There was a bit of a breeze, but this didn’t stop anyone. Who could ask for a better day to ride!?!

There were riders of many different levels. That didn’t matter. The love of riding and the conviction of supporting this worthy cause brought everyone together. It was so inspiring to ride with those who struggle with diabetes. These training rides not only prepare the team to participate next spring, they also serve to motivate riders to do better! Better in perhaps riding, “fun”raising, or just participating more often.

The TeamOne members successfully completed the training ride together as One!
