The Orlando ADA Tour de Cure presented a Champions Reception in honor of all the hard work people had been doing for the upcoming ADA Tour de Cure ride. Fundraisers that achieve the $1000 are considered “Champions”. This invitation-only event recognizes these Champions, key volunteers, and sponsors.
This year’s event was sponsored by Jaguar of Orlando and hosted at their showroom. Guests were treated to an evening of music, socializing, and food. Champions received certificates of recognition and a beautiful Champions Medal commemorating their achievement. This year marked not only the 25th Anniversary but also a spectacular milestone in the number of Champions 120 overall! TeamOne was among the crowd, having a good percentage of Champions, over half the team.
This year TeamOne at that moment has 11 Early Bird Champions (Bob, Chet, Dawn, Diana, Jodel, Kelley, Kenesha, Seresaa, Shawn, Susie, and Z) for Diabetes in the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Lake Nona Tour de Cure!
There are movers and shakers on this team who are local or have traveled from far to assist. We would like to extend a hearty thank you to Bob who traveled from the northeast. Bob became a champion and was instrumental in creating 6 more Champions. We ended up with 17 Champions for the Lake Nona Tour de Cure campaign.

Speakers
A few special guests were honored as well and several speakers. Chris Clark was the speaker and the first person with Type 1 diabetes to complete an Ultraman triathlon. He was featured in ADA’s Diabetes Forecast magazine. Luke Rosser , a young man with Juvenile Type 1 Diabetes, is an athlete and advocate lobbying for change in support of finding a cure for diabetes. Luke, along with Team Luke, raised $22,971.00 and was the Top Family/Friend Team in the Tour de Cure in Orlando. His persistence in fighting this disease is inspirational. Already an athlete, Luke was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in a family with no history of the disease. That didn’t stop Luke, though, from continuing to compete in swim meets and triathlons. Wilmer Gracia the COO of CiCi’s was also asked to say a few words. He has type 2 diabetes, began cycling to change his life while managing his health and diabetes.
