The Ride 4 Ronald is coming up. TeamOne members (Diana, Jodel and Z) participated in a training ride hosted by David’s World of Cycle to get ready. While the ADA Tour de Cure is the main focus for TeamOne, members have several worthy causes they support; Ride 4 Ronald is one of these charities.

The day started early for the team members with a 7:00 am start time. Overall, 2 Groups of riders made up the training ride. One group rode 16-18 mph average, and the other rode an average of 18-20.

The Ride

The day was wonderfully clear, hot, and of course humid. Florida summer was in full effect! However, the route was shaded most of the way, so riders had some relief from the sun. Three TeamOne members participated in the 16-18 mph average group. This course was relatively flat. Relative since there were only two “inclines”, one of which was a small overpass.  The objective of this training ride was endurance and hydration training. The team members rode 32 miles at an average of 17.4 mph. The scenery was green and gorgeous. The riders did happen upon a few rough roads. One was even marked with a yellow warning sign as “rough road ahead”. Little did the riders know that “rough rode” actually meant pot holes ahead.  They kept their pace, though, and didn’t let the pot holes slow them down.

New friends were made. These rides are not only training, there is fun and camaraderie as a bonus!  There is nothing like riding a bike to bring out the kid in everyone.

The riders look forward to the next training ride in this series. For more information about the Ride 4 Ronald, visit https://www.ronaldmcdonaldhouseorlando.org/events/2016-ride-4-ronald
