On Saturday morning February 18, 2017, TeamOne members (Diana & Z) joined other cyclists for the Peloton Cyclist Club (PCC) Ride #7. This was going to be a busy weekend with back-to-back ride days, but the team was up for the fun. After all, a peloton ride is just another great opportunity to train for the upcoming ADA Tour de Cure with a large group. This time the cyclists made the trek out to St. Cloud, FL.

PCC (http://pelotoncyclistclub.com) is a fun and unique company that has set out to unite the cycling community. TeamOne members joined in for the 32-mile course of beautiful riding through St. Cloud.

All PCC rides are fully supported with mechanical and nutritional support before, during, and after the events. PCC has designated fully stocked SAG stops along the route to meet every rider’s need.

The Ride

If you regularly follow the team, you’ll know that the morning probably started early. This Saturday was no exception. Once again they did get an early start.  The day was a little chilly at 58 degrees. As the team members have come to expect, there was the PCC trailer with breakfast set up bagels, juice, and coffee — a perfect beginning on such a chilly morning.  By the time the riders got going, it was a brisk 62 degrees.

Course choices today were either 30-mile or a 50-mile course. The 50-mile course had a single group this time, planning on a good clip of 20+ mph. The 32-mile group planned a  more sedate pace of 16-18 mph. Today everyone knew the day would warm up and it was sure to be beautiful and sunny. The team members chose the 32-mile route, knowing it would be a great pre-ride for the Tour Latino on Sunday.

The course was flat. Something to be enjoyed in Florida. The first SAG stop was about 12 miles into the ride.  The PCC tent and trailer could be found amidst the beautiful backdrop of orange groves. Snacks and hydration stood ready. Eric and his team set out a great spread of pretzels, pickles (a popular item with riders), bananas, trail mix, snack bars, cookies, water, Gatorade, and soda.

After the SAG stop, the TeamOne riders started back for the last 20-ish miles. The wind picked up a bit. Luckily before that wind got too bad, there was a turn to take the bite out of the wind. While this is an unusual occurrence, today most every turn came up right on time to avoid strong headwinds.  The cyclists’ appreciated the luxury of those turns. The ride was a leisurely one, just dusting off the cobwebs for TeamOne members.

After the ride, food waited for hungry cyclists. Today’s menu by Chef Ray included delicious meatballs, veggie sandwiches, croissant BLTs, amazing rice. Marvelous!!  The day was filled with great conversation, camaraderie, and beautiful weather enjoyed by the waterfront at the Marina Lakefront Park.

As always, PCC made sure cyclists had a great day!! Check out what they have to offer at their website: http://pelotoncyclistclub.com
