Monday, September 4, 2017, started at 7:00 am with a temperature of 80 degrees of sweltering weather condition. A very warm summer sun greeted this morning riders.

Diana, Jodel, and Z represented TeamOne in the ADA Committee annual ride at Lake Nona, FL. TeamOne riders choose the 30-mile course to promote the upcoming Tour de Cure in March.  This ride was a casual tour of the proposed routes. The ride started at 9 a.m. with two groups. While everyone started together, one group would breakout for the 12-mile route and the other group would take the 30-mile route.

The day was hot and humid. The breeze picked up quickly. Not a nice cool breeze, rather a hot sticky breeze. Just enough to present a strong headwind. The group stayed together for most of the ride. The first stop came at a local convenience store. Riders took a short break to refill water and Gatorade, then they were on the way again.

The route gave the opportunity to ride through much of Lake Nona. The breeze picked up more. What had been hot was becoming worse. Riders rotated to pull, though, to keep the wind at bay. The last part of the ride would take the group up a bridge. That was a welcome sight. Even though it was at the end of the ride, the bridge signaled the home stretch.

The small group of supporter responded with welcoming cheers for every rider as they rode to the end of the route!  While not the main event, hearing supporters rally at the end always makes for a great ride!!

Chroma was the site for lunch. Many of the group stayed for deliciousness.  Coldwater was the first order of business. Small plates of Deviled Eggs, Tempura Fish Tacos, Wagyu Skirt Steak, Baked House Meatballs, Buffalo Chicken Wontons, Chicken Satay, Hand-Cut Fries, Chroma Burger, Lamb Burger were just some of the wonderful dishes ordered.

While March 2018 is still a little far off for some, the committee and volunteers for the Lake Nona Tour de Cure are already hard at work to make this next event memorable.
