Fall has arrived. Saturday morning October 21, 2017, TeamOne members (Dawn, Diana,  & Z) joined other cyclists for the Peloton Cyclist Club (PCC) Ride #15.

The ride start time was 8:00  am. That seemed like a late start, but with an hour drive and sunrise not until about 7:20 am, it was still an early morning.

PCC (http://pelotoncyclistclub.com) is a fun and unique company that has set out to unite the cycling community. TeamOne members joined in for Saturday’s 35-mile course of beautiful riding through Mt. Dora, FL.

All PCC rides are fully supported with mechanical and nutritional support before, during, and after the events. PCC has designated fully stocked SAG stops along the route to meet every rider’s need.

The Ride

Riders gathered in beautiful Mt. Dora for the PCC Ride #15.  Participants discovered croissants, bananas, bagels, snack bars, orange juice, and coffee awaiting them. The PCC team always sets out an array of goodies to get riders started off right! Two routes could also be downloaded that morning onto those Garmin devices for those that wanted them. Today’s options were a 36-mile route or a 54-mile route. The TeamOne members took the 36-mile option. A few hills were sprinkled in. This route was the perfect length for the day.

The ride started out soon after sunrise. The 36-mile group started out at a fast pace of over 18 mph. The green, tree-filled scenery made the miles pass quickly. There was little traffic on the roads. The hills, though, seemed to be more than just a sprinkling. The Florida wind made an appearance as well. That combination made for some slight challenges along the way. The SAG stop at the 20-mile mark was a welcome sight. Water, soda, Clif blocks, bananas, peanut butter crackers, and trail mix filled the table. Even though the day was not too hot, to begin with, the SAG could not have been more timely. A short break and then the group was back on the road.

The last 16 miles of the ride offered more scenic views. That wasn’t all though. The strong “breeze” (also known as the Florida wind) came along for the ride. A few riders switched off pulling for the group.

The strong wind continued. The riders kept pushing through it. Finally, the finish was in sight. The riders finished up, satisfied with a great day of riding. They were ready for the fantastic lunch waiting.

Chef Ray of Craving’s by Ray Vega created an artistic display of delightful mixed fruit salad, spicy chicken wraps, and quinoa. PCC riders enjoyed the feast along with the spirited conversation. Another successful ride wrapped up. The next ride will be a fundraiser for Puerto Rico. Find more information about this community event at http://pelotoncyclistclub.com/events-stream/.

Music

This is one of the mixes by DJ Israel “El Lobel” Rodriguez we were playing on the ride. Feel free to share, like, download, or go to SoundCloud and see what other mixes and genre you might like created by our dear friend from da Bronx “El Lobel“.

WE decided to go with freestyle 80’s music for this ride just to change it up. View our standard riding playlist: https://soundcloud.com/teamone/sets/salsa-for-riding
