On Tuesday, April 21, 2020, amid all this terrible news surrounding COVID-19, there is at least a glimmer of light and positivity for TeamOne!

All the TeamOne members and people who support the team should stand up from your home office chair and take a well-deserved bow. This recognition is possible because of everything the team members and donors provide to the American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure effort.

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) of Orlando stated “This week is National Volunteer Appreciation Week! To recognize our incredible community leaders, we have Superlative Awards to recognize all week long.”

The Best Dressed Award

Given to the volunteer(s) that always are sporting the coolest attire at the Tour de Cure.

Why TeamOne?

Because they’ve got it all going on. The armbands, the jersey, the bib, the shoes, the bikes. This team just puts it together to ride as one. Even better, every single member of TeamOne are Champions, raising ONE thousand dollars or more. Can’t really think of a team more deserving of calling themselves TeamOne than this crew.

This is representative of a quote  … “We are not a team because we work together.  We are a team because we respect, trust, care for each other and the community! – Anonymous.”

The cycling jersey continues to make a splash because SAIC published a picture of the team in (below photos):

TeamOne will enjoy the moment with our donors and friends.  TeamOne lives up to the name and is being recognized nationwide! View other team awards and/or recognitions.

The ADA’s COVID-19 Message

Diabetics are at higher risk for severe illness, including COVID-19.  With the recent events happening around the world related to COVID-19 the ADA’s number one priority is the health and safety of people that they serve. People with diabetes are disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic, as those with diabetes face a higher chance of experiencing serious complications if they contract COVID-19. Data from the cases in China, for instance, show that people with diabetes had much higher rates of serious complications and death than those without diabetes. In general, those who have more health conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease, have a higher chance of experiencing serious complications, the ADA says.

In addition to an increased risk of complications, being ill can make it more difficult for those with diabetes to manage their glucose levels, especially if they feel unwell and can’t eat certain foods. “Make no bones about it—COVID-19 is serious and is a serious challenge to our society and our personal and community health,” says Ken Moritsugu, ADA’s chief interim science and medical officer. You can learn more about how COVID-19 impacts the diabetic community from the ADA CEO video or go to https://www.diabetes.org/coronavirus-covid-19

Stay healthy and safe!!!
