Teamwork! My donors and supporters made me a Champion today!!!

Thank you all! 2018 Tour de Cure Lake Nona could not have been better! You did an amazing job helping me raise over $1,000 for the American Diabetes Association (ADA).

You were part of  TeamOne’s efforts which raised over $22,750. TeamOne 2018 had an impressive group of  21 Champions.  The past year has been hit hard for so many, coast to coast.  Considering these economic times for some, the entire team is humbled and grateful for the donations received so far – every penny counts. I have an ADA Tour de Cure shirt display in my office in honor of every donor.

On Sunday, March 25th, I participated in the American Diabetes Association Lake Nona Tour de Cure ride. This was my fourth ride for the ADA. Time passes too quickly. I still can hardly believe it. With four rides completed, I can hardly wait for the next one. Little did I realize when I did the first 2015 ride that I would still be participating!

I am so honored to ride on behalf of:

  • Bertha Styles (Charmaine’s Nana), Keith Buchanan (Charmaine’s Brother), Cathy’s Dad, Charles Lancaster, Sam B., Taylor, Mr. A, Xavier Gomez
  • In loving memory of Charles’ parents

Last year the day was hot and windy. This year: mild and windy. Last year: 4 am wake up. This year: 4 am wake up. Last year: no coffee to kick off the day. This year: no coffee to kick off the day. Not much I can do about the weather. I do think at least I need to fix the coffee part next year!

My route this year was 50 miles. Whew! In the wind, it sometimes seemed like that would never end. Today, mild temperatures made all the difference. Even though I was working hard to keep going in the wind, a nice temperature helped.

Bicycling skills – every year I learn more. Today that came into play. One skid in the sand for an unexpected turn; one water bottle casualty (not mine, but when they said “watch out”, I did – I watched that water bottle as I ran over it – perfect recovery this time).

One of the best things about riding with TeamOne is our passion for this cause. We have people come from many places to ride together on this one day.

This ride was great for so many reasons:  Your generosity in donations (which makes you a part of TeamOne); my FOURTH 50-mile Tour de Cure ride; riding with a team that looked and did awesomely, and making some new friends on this ride.

Many thanks for your support. It has made fundraising, training, and the actual ride easier. In addition, you earned some brownie points with me!
