On Saturday morning, November 7, 2020, TeamOne members (Catherine, Dawn, Gail, Jodel, Jonathan, & Z) went out for a ride sporting the new TeamOne Taino Jerseys. Read more about the jersey …
The Ride
This is Florida’s best riding season, of course excluding the wind and gusts. TeamOne members know that the wind is brutal during these times and today was no exception.
To kick off the new cooler weather, the team had 2 start times. The first 26-mile ride for the early birds starting at or about 8:30 am, and the second 10-mile casual ride starting at 10:30 am.
Rolling out at 8:30 ish, the cyclists soon found that an early start didn’t matter when it concerns the wind. The wind speed was already at 12 mph and the gust at 22 mph. The team members were rotating lead from time to time which helped to make the ride arduously fun. The first ride of 26 miles down with no incidents.
After a short break, getting ready for the 2nd start, the original 2 cyclists with additional TeamOne members (Dawn, Jodel, and Jonathan) got ready to roll out. The wind increased in strength to 18 mph and gust up to 27 mph. The casual ride turned into a ride that was slower than the first round. The team pushed through the wind for the 10 miles for a nice and easy finish.
Another team member (Gail) was waiting for them at the finish line. Seeing Gail was a pleasant surprise! After 2 rounds of riding, cold water, some nourishment at the local gathering spot, welcomed this group. A little visiting, a lot of conversation, and plenty of sunshine made for a great end to a ride and an awesome start to any weekend.

TeamOne
In the midst of a very unique and deadly year for many, it is nice to see that TeamOne members are staying safe, healthy, and continue to unite while supporting each other during these trying times!
What a great day to ride, the weather was almost perfect (the wind ) … under 82-degrees and 66% humidity. Of course, the Taino jersey has been a long time coming but it has arrived while being inclusive and encompassing the heritage of the islands. It is always a great day when you ride among friends with great-looking kits. Finally, I miss the team members who couldn’t be present, I know you were there in spirit!
Great first Taino jersey ride. It was nice seeing some of the team members. To many more team rides!!
Great looking jersey!!! The story, symbolism, and colors in the jersey creation is very meaningful. It was educational for people like me who didn’t know the Taino history. You should have a way for people like me to get updates when you post a story.
